Trypsin
SKU | 02101179-CF |
Alternate Names | Parenzymol; Parenzyme; Tryptar; Trypure; U-4858; Tryptase; Cocoonase; Parenzyme |
Application Notes | Trypsin can be used to dissolve blood clots in its microbial form and treat inflammation in its pancreatic form. Trypsin is commonly used in biological research. |
Base Catalog Number | 101179 |
Biochemical Physiological Actions | Trypsin cleaves peptides on the C-terminal side of lysine and arginine residues. The rate of hydrolysis of this reaction is slowed if an acidic residue is on either side of the cleavage site and hydrolysis is stopped if a proline residue is on the carboxyl side of the cleavage site. Trypsin can also act to cleave ester and amide linkages of synthetic derivatives of amino acids. EDTA is added to trypsin solutions as a chelating agent that neutralizes calcium and magnesium ions that obscure the peptide bonds on which trypsin acts. Removing these ions increases the enzymatic activity. |
CAS # | 9002-07-7 |
Components | Trypsin is composed of two subunits, α-trypsin and β-trypsin. α-Trypsin is composed of two peptide chains and β-trypsin is composed of one chain. |
EC Number | 232-650-8 |
Extinction Coefficient | E1%280 = 14.3 (Lit.) |
Format | Lyophilized powder |
Grade | 2× Crystallized |
Hazard Statements | H315-H319-H334-H335 |
Isoelectric Point | pH 10.5(Lit.) |
Personal Protective Equipment | Dust mask , Eyeshields, Faceshields, Gloves |
RTECS Number | YN5075000 |
Safety Symbol | GHS07, GHS08 |
Source | Beef pancreas |
Specific Activity | ≥180 TAME u/mg |
Specificity | The protease activity of trypsin is highly specific toward positively charged side chains with lysine and arginine. Forms complexes with a2-macroglobulin. Can be used in the isolation of intact; detergent-free phycobilisomes and in the hydrolysis/condensation of carboxylic ester bonds. |
Typical Working Concentration | For the Removal of Adherent Cells from a Culture Surface: 2.5% w/v solution |
Unit Definition | One unit hydrolyzes one µmole of TAME per minute at 25 °C, pH 8.2, in the presence of ionized calcium. |
Usage Statement | Unless specified otherwise, MP Biomedical’s products are for research or further manufacturing use only, not for direct human use. For more information, please contact our customer service department. |
