SKU | 0216003501 |
Alternate Names | EGF; Epidermal cell growth factor |
Application Notes | EGF stimulates the proliferation and differentiation of a wide variety of cell types deriving both from ectoderm and mesoderm. In tissue culture, EGF can act to reduce or eliminate the requirement for serum and is often used in conjunction with other media additives and hormones, such as insulin, transferrin, and prostaglandin E1. Cellular metabolic effects of EGF include stimulation of ion fluxes, glucose transport, glycolysis, and synthesis of DNA, RNA and proteins. |
